Strength and Conditioning (S&C) is a style of athletic coaching, and training that has grown in popularity over the last few years. Essentially it is the physical, and physiological development of athletes for elite sport performance. Our role as S&C coaches is to pass the theory of sports science, and sport specific training to the athletes, helping them to maximise their full athletic potential. S&C can help anyone, not just athletes.
The end goal is that clients become fitter, faster, stronger, more powerful, more agile, more coordinated, and have maximal conditioning to optimise performance and reduce the risk of injury. Dr Ian Burton is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), which is considered the world leading strength & conditioning accreditation.
Whilst S&C is typically geared towards athletes, we also offer personal training for the general population. This is suitable for anyone who wants to increase their exercise levels, health, strength and fitness. The sessions are tailored to each individual taking accounts of their needs, previous or current exercise experience and their goals. Goals can include weight loss, increasing overall strength or fitness or preparing for a specific event such as a 10km run or marathon.
We have a state of the art private one to one gym with a range of equipment, which provides a more private and comfortable environment than busy commercial gyms.

The consultation included historic issues / problems, personal rehab carried out as well as physical review of issue presented. Methodical analysis focus resulted on issue with my tendon. We discussed and agreed a realistic schedule of rehab to get me back to running which also included shockwave treatment. The best part of the service is that Ian has got a fully equipped gym where he can observe a patient doing the exercises prescribed by physio. We often are given exercises to resolve an issue but often we do not perform them correctly. You don’t have to worry about it with Ian. Moreover he can build a plan for you to prevent the issue reoccurring Estera Żak2025-03-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came to Ian with chronic plantar fasciitis last year, whilst preparing for my first Ironman triathlon. I thought the outlook was pretty bleak and was concerned that I would have to defer the race, due to being in so much pain as a result of running. Ian recommended shockwave therapy which had incredibly successful effects and after a couple of treatments, paired with a few weeks off running, and some specific strength training, I was back running pain free. Pretty remarkable considering I had been in pain for months ahead of this and plantar fasciitis is well known to be a stubborn condition. I was able to complete the Ironman a couple of months later and don't think that would have been possible without Ian's treatment. Ian's very good at identifying why there is an underlying issue, treating it and suggesting how to prevent it in future and by following his advice I've had very good results. I would highly recommend his services. Beth Jones2025-02-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ian was very informative and knowledgeable.
